Godly Play

Children have an innate sense of the presence of God.

The Godly Play approach helps them to explore their faith through story, to gain religious language and to enhance their spiritual experience though wonder and play.

Developed by the Rev. Jerome Berryman and based on Montessori principles, the Godly Play method serves children through early, middle and late childhood and beyond.  Our St. Michael’s teachers build an environment of intimacy and trust, where imagination and the process of listening to God thrives.

Children in the younger class (age 4 to 5th grade) gain experience with faith through sacred stories, parables, and liturgical action.

echo THE STORY

As the children get older, in middle and high school, the same sense of discovering God exists on a deeper and more complex level.

They build on their earlier experiences and knowledge as they grow into mature
Christians.

During the Sunday school hour, Echo the Story, by Michael Novelli, is a deeply experiential and theological series that explores the Bible and God as the author of our lives.
