Virginia Boys Home

The Boys’ Home of Virginia is a ministry partner of St. Michael’s that helps boys become men who are productive members of society by developing their potential—spiritually, mentally, physically, and socially. St. Michael’s sponsors a cottage of boys, makes quilts for the boys, and has an annual mission trip to the Boys’ Home. Contact Fr. Charles for more information on how to get involved.

Burton-Pack Elementary School Food Friends

The Burton-Pack Ministry has been providing weekend meals for 24 children that attend Burton-Pack Elementary School for over 8 years. This ministry allows Saint Michael and All Angels to participate in a meaningful way in the lives of children in our community. If you feel called to participate, please feel free to contact Stan Dellinger, standellinger7@gmail.com, Alex Maitland, amaitland@groupsouth.net, Debbie Mullennex, Debbiemullennex@gmail.com.

Volunteers for this ministry will purchase items from local grocery stores and deliver them to the church. Once the items have been inventoried and organized, they will then be packed at the church, and finally delivered to Burton Pack. Volunteers can get involved in any of these activities, and the commitment would be about 1-3 hours twice a month.

This ministry is an excellent way to hone our God-given gifts. When we say the prayer Jesus taught us to pray, what action does the phrase “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread” call us into? One action we can do as people of God is to do our Father’s will by providing “bread” to school children in need.

There are other easy ways to partake in this ministry. When you are heading out to go shopping, for instance,  add some of the items listed below to your shopping list and bring the items to church for packing. Help pack bags after church. When you are praying the Divine Office ask God to be with the families at Burton-Pack: that they may grow in the knowledge and love of God. This ministry is an excellent way to provide for the needs of our neighbors in a way that will bring us and them closer to God.

Angel Food Bank

The Angel Food Bank is an initiative that provides EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE to the immediate St. Michael’s community. Early Learning Center families, staff, and church members experiencing food insecurity are given provisions in a controlled, discreet, and dignified manner.

We are excited for the opportunity to continue sharing the love of Christ through a sustainable program that offers pantry staples, nutritious meal preparation ingredients, and personal hygiene products for those facing challenges and instabilities. We previously received and dispersed goods through our holiday food drive and wish to maintain the program throughout year to better serve those in need. In doing so, we are putting faith into action and growing our school and church community with compassion and grace.
